From a fleeting thought of fantasy to final occupancy, there are many waters to navigate in the complex world of historic renovation or ground-up development and construction. You can count on the expertise of the North End Group every step of the way.

‘NorthEnders’ for decades, Cooper Kalisek and Jon King are the principal partners of the North End Group. Their combined experience in real estate, construction, and creative vision come to bear on projects in and around Boise’s North End. Cooper is a Boise native who graduated from Boise State University in 2006. John is an Idahoan via Alaska. The pair are leaving their signature on the architectural character of the neighborhood.

They take great pride in this unique community and deliver on projects in keeping with North End heritage. A historically accurate and detail-oriented approach to projects creates a singular and memorable outcome.

Cooper Kalisek

Founder and CEO

Cooper Kalisek is a business development and marketing professional with a proven track record of achieving brand-changing and business-building results in a variety of positions across multiple industries. Cooper is passionate about solving challenging operational problems that others may see as insurmountable by leveraging his entrepreneurial business background, sales and marketing skillset, and managerial experience.

Jon King

Jon King has worked in the Boise area for 20 years and is known throughout the trade for his attention to detail and relationships with fellow craftsmen. He prides himself on the relationships he has with clients and the craftsmanship he brings to the job.  Jon’s experience and management abilities allow him to take on the most ambitious projects. He facilitates the blending of ideas and flow of communication to create a home that reflects his client’s vision. 

Board of Advisors

Our board of advisors consists of some of Idaho’s top business, real estate, and construction minds, with proven track records in business and real estate both locally and worldwide. This provides North End Development with a unique competitive advantage. The advisors depth and breadth of experience allow NED to evaluate potential projects and manage ongoing projects from a position of strength, and provide perspective into unidentified potential and pitfalls, allowing us to mitigate risk for our partners and lending institutions.

The varied background of our advisor’s provides diverse insight and relevant expertise into the functional areas needed to complete successful projects: including project analysis, business strategy, financial modeling, geographical analysis, marketing and business strategy, construction and infrastructure design, project management, and most importantly, risk mitigation.

Michael Adler – President and CEO Adler Realty Investments Inc.

Mr. Adler, is the President and CEO of Adler Realty Investments, Inc.  He is actively involved in a broad spectrum of real estate investment and development projects including purchasing the VanAucker Real Estate Portfolio. His market insight and leadership skills enable the firm to consistently exceed market returns on investments.

While serving as President and CEO of Adler Realty Investments, Inc., Mr. Adler has acted as general partner, manager and investor in over 50 real estate projects in excess of $1 billion dollars. Many of these projects consisted of “value added opportunities” whereby the property was purchased having a high level of vacancy and neglect. Mr. Adler and his team instituted the renovation, redevelopment, and provided the management expertise required to reposition the properties to a stabilized and profitable condition. Additional projects include the entitlement and development of land for residential, industrial, and commercial use, and acquisition of institutional grade stabilized properties where the management team maximizes cash flow and investor return.

Mr. Adler is a graduate of the University of Denver with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in Real Estate and Finance. He obtained his Member Appraisal Institute (MAI) designation from the Appraisal Institute, and his Certified Property Managers (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management. Mr. Adler is a member of the Urban Land Institute and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Dan Mortimer – Layton Construction- Senior Superintendent

Mr. Mortimer is the Senior Superintendent charged with managing the Saint Luke’s Phase 1 construction project. This phase includes a $106MM Central Utility Plant, 8-story parking deck, Shipping and Receiving facility, two under street tunnels and infrastructure covering two city blocks. Mr. Mortimer also oversaw the Ae’o, Honolulu HI- $350MM 40-story luxury condominium tower.

Prior to his employment with Layton Construction, Mr. Mortimer was the General Superintendent at Beck Group located in Dallas, TX. During his employment with Beck Group, he was responsible for the oversight of all healthcare projects in the Dallas Fort Worth market. Including, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital North Campus, Frisco, Texas with a total construction cost of $124MM completing a 190,000 SF new ambulatory care center on a 40-acre site, a 7 & 8 build out Methodist Mansfield Hospital $4MM, Texas Health Recovery & Wellness Treatment Center, in Mansfield, Texas-$32MM with a 79,000 SF addiction treatment facility, and Renovation projects such as, CT, OR’s, switchgear change out, patient floor refresh and kitchens, projects ranging from $500 K- $8MM.

Prior to his employment with Beck Group, Mr. Mortimer held numerous General Superintendent and Senior Superintendent roles throughout the Texas where he oversaw numerous projects including the completion of Irving Music Factory, a $90 MM build out including a 16-acre amphitheater and multi-use development with the Ark Group and the City of Irving; the building of Medical City – $80 MM 6-story vertical expansion with med-surg, CT and rehabilitation; Rebuild of three patient floors in 40-year-old tower, major MEP infrastructure, 10 new OR’s, Cystology, Lithotripsy and ER addition; Oak Hill Hospital- Brooksville FL- $30.9 MM 2 story 108K SF surgery and bed tower expansion which included 8 OR’s, 36 ICU rooms and 18 PACU bays; Centennial Medical Center- Nashville TN- $52 MM 110K SF 3 story vertical expansion as well as a 110K SF renovation of the existing tower. Project included 16 CVICU rooms, 5 OR’s, 16 ICU rooms, 29 patient rooms, 4 catheterization labs and a pharmacy. Delivered 3 months ahead and increased fee by $500,000; and the Trump Taj Mahal, a $900 million 42-story hotel and casino.

Mr. Mortimer has extensive expertise in managing large-scale construction projects to luxury home remodels and holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Michael McHargue, CCM

Michael grew up in Gooding, Idaho and moved to Boise after college in 2003 with a bachelors degree in Construction Engineering from Montana State University.  In 2018 Michael earned his Certified Construction Manager, CCM, designation. His resume’ is an impressive list of projects to include commercial, office, retail, restaurant, light industrial, heavy civil, and multifamily.

MR. McHargue’s is one of the founding partners of Prusick Construction, His firm and partners construction experience includes all aspects of construction and project management.

Tena Lokken – Founder True North Consulting, Board Children’s Home Society – SMB Marketing Hewlett Packard

Ms. Lokken spent 20 years in a variety of marketing and communications roles at Hewlett Packard Company and Extended Systems. Later, as a founding partner of True North Consulting, she provided strategic marketing advice to numerous nonprofit clients. Ms. Lokken was the former President of the Board of the Children’s Home Society, member of the board of the Idaho Community Foundation, and member of the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho. She has also served as a member of the board of the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation, where she chaired the Education Committee and led their annual symposium planning team. 

Project Haiti (SARMC Foundation) – where she co-developed a strategic marketing and communications plan after the Haiti earthquake in 2010. The First Tee of Idaho – Tena served on the Board of Directors and chaired the TFTI gala committee in 2007. Safe Place Ministries –Tena mentored the chairman of the Board of Directors regarding fundraising and board development strategies in 2008. FUNDSY – Tena served on the Board of Directors 2003-2006; served on the gala committee in 2008, and as a volunteer again in 2010.  Lee Pesky Learning Center – Tena co-developed and conducted two highly successful training programs for the leadership team in 2004. Idaho Community Foundation – As a volunteer, Tena led a community-based marketing task force to generate potential promotional strategies for the ICF five-year strategic plan in 2002.

Ms. Lokken is a graduate of the University of Idaho.

Skip Oppenheimer – Chairman and CEO, Oppenheimer Companies; President, Oppenheimer Development Corporation

Mr. Oppenheimer is currently Chairman and CEO of Oppenheimer Companies, Inc., and President of Oppenheimer Development Corporation, and Chairman of several affiliated corporations. Mr. Oppenheimer is a Director of the Federal Reserve Bank San Francisco and a Member of the Boy Scouts of America National Executive Board, Board Member and previous chair of St. Luke’s Hospital System Board of Directors, and founding Chair of Idaho Business for Education. Additionally, Mr. Oppenheimer serves as President of the Frank Church Institute Board at Boise State University.

Oppenheimer Companies, Inc. (OCI) is a privately held corporation operating throughout the United States and headquartered in Boise, Idaho. The majority of OCI companies are involved nationally in food processing and the sales and marketing of food products. Mr. Oppenheimer oversees companies under the OCI family of companies that specialize in Commercial Real Estate, Property Management, Food and Beverage, Aviation, Food Production, Logistics and Supply Chain, Marketing and Advertising, Customer Service, and Member Development.

Mr. Oppenheimer obtained his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, and his BA in history from the University of Idaho.  He also received a Degree Elementaire from the Sorbonne, University of Paris, France. 

Bob Lokken – Chairman St. Luke’s Board of Directors, Founder and CEO WhiteCloud Analytics, Founder and CEO Proclarity Corporation

Mr. Lokken co-founded and served as CEO of WhiteCloud Analytics – a company focused on evolving the use of analytics to further healthcare performance management. Prior to founding WhiteCloud, he was a founder and the CEO of ProClarity Corp., winner of over 40 industry awards for analytic and performance management technologies. He authored several of the key patents behind the company’s market-leading technology, and led the company from its inception until May 2006, when ProClarity was acquired by Microsoft Corporation. After the acquisition, Mr. Lokken joined Microsoft as a leader in their business intelligence group.

Mr. Lokken has served on the boards of several organizations in healthcare, education, and technology development. Currently, he serves as chairman of St. Luke’s Health System Board of Directors; previously he served as chair of their Governance Committee. He has also served as chairman of Idaho Business for Education, a non-profit, cross-industry group of executives committed to the evolution and improvement of public education.

Mr. Lokken is a frequent keynote speaker at industry conferences on the use of analytics to drive business results. Additionally, he has extensive experience in healthcare systems and analytic strategies adopted by healthcare organizations to more effectively use their exploding data assets. In 2012, he was inducted into the Idaho Technology Hall of Fame for his pioneering work in analytics and advancement of innovation in his home state.

Mr. Lokken obtained his degree in Computer Science from Montana State University and has studied Operations Research and Business Administration at two different universities.

Ben Semple, PLA – Senior Landscape Architect, Boise Planning and Zoning Commission Board Member

Mr. Semple has spent over 15 years performing planning, entitlement, and design for residential and commercial developments, private residences, and various projects throughout Idaho. Ben’s expertise encompasses major aspects of land development including site planning and design, construction document preparation, coordination with governing and regulatory agencies, project management and implementation.

His construction oversight experience includes direct management of a number of local commercial and residential installations. Additionally, his experience includes coordination with, and public presentation to, community leaders, design team members, and neighborhood residents in order to produce successful projects. Mr. Semple’s previous employment with a civil engineering firm has also given him a strong foundation in site design and development, especially as it pertains to site grading and drainage, storm water system design, and parking and roadway layout, giving him well-rounded knowledge of overall project design. Mr. Semple has a vast expertise in the areas of Commercial and Retail Facilities, Educational Institution, Mixed Used Development, and Planned Unit Development Mr. Semple’s expertise has allowed him to help shape Boise’s growth by sitting on the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Commission makes the final decision on conditional use permits, planned unit developments and most variances. They also review appeals of administrative decisions and make recommendations to City Council on rezones, annexations and amendments to the ordinance and Comprehensive Plan.

Mr. Semple’s projects include North End Development’s Hayes Silvers Subdivision and working with Ms. Morris on Primary Health (Fairview & Cole Rezone). As well as the overall Fairview & Cole Rezone, Pritchett Booth Planned Unit Development, Multiple projects at Harris Ranch, Marietta Subdivision, Avimor Village Subdivision Phase 9&10, Watergarden Townhomes at The Waterfront District, Liberty Street Development, Armory Avenue Townhomes, Purshia Hills Subdivision Robert Street Condos, Bluebird Car Wash (Fairview & Cole Rezone), Birds of Prey (facility upgrade & expansion) Quarry Village as well as countless other projects.

Mr. Semple is a graduate of University of Idaho – Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. He is also a member of the American Landscape Architects and Urban Land Institute.
